The 9th edition of the Region 5 Youth Games comes with a wide range of Ceremonies to be performed in preparation of the actual showcase of talent during the Games time. The LOC has and will continue to deliver series of events/ ceremonies as an effort of embracing excitement, observing protocol and bringing the fun element for participants to enjoy the Games journey.
The following Ceremonies are the integral part of celebration rituals of the Games journey:
• Team Sports Draw
• Opening and Closing Ceremonies;
• Team Welcome Ceremonies;
• Medal Ceremonies; etc.
The rest of other events will be detailed out in the Ceremonies Manual.
The Opening Ceremony of the Region 5 Youth Games Maseru 2020 will be staged at Setsoto Stadium on Friday, the 3th December 2021 at 8:00 pm. Pre-Show will start at 6:00 pm and please note that these times are subject to change. All competing athletes will march by virtue of their accreditation. Each delegation will nominate a flag bearer who will be provided with country’s flag before entering Setsoto Stadium.
Upon arrival at Setsoto stadium athletes will be guided to the preparation area where all marching athletes and officials will be together with their delegations and snacks and water will be served while waiting for the parade to commence. At the set time, marching delegations will enter through south entrance of the stadium in accordance with the alphabetical order. Delegations will march across the field of play, passing the Royal Stand, in view of the audience, before being directed to their position on the field of play. Ceremony will conclude at 21h00.
The Closing Ceremony programme will be finalized in due course.
The welcome ceremonies will be performed at the Games Village Plaza and all teams will be given a unique performance to allow its athletes to engage and be at home meanwhile performing the necessary protocols thereof.
Medal ceremonies will be held as soon as possible at all competition venues following the completion of all medal competitions. Prior to the commencement of the ceremony, medallists will be escorted to the medal ceremony podium for the medal presentation. Medallists shall take their places on a podium and face the official stand upon announcement of their names. The Silver and Bronze medallists will stand to the right and left respectively of the Gold medallist. Flags of the medallists’ countries will be raised while the national anthem of the Gold Medallist is being played. During the playing of the anthem and raising of flags, medallists must accord due respect and face the flags when they are being raised. Upon completion of the formal part of the Medal Ceremony, medal-winners will be escorted out of the Medal Ceremony podium area. The dress code for each Medal Ceremony shall be the Official Team Tracksuit.
