MASERU – It became a great entertaining night at Setsoto stadium after the Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro officially announcing the AUSC Region 5 Youth Games Maseru 2020 closed.
Majoro also thanked the support from committee ministers in making it a success to host such a previlaged tournament developing youth athletes for a better career in the future of sports.
He further encouraged the country of Malawi, which will be next year’s host that the experience they have learnt in Lesotho should be their motive and inspiration to making their country a successful candidate.
Lesotho hosted the Region 5 youth games under the Covid 19 protocol and it was the medical department that showed responsibility in testing all accredited personnel after three days to maintain and treat the spread of the corona virus.
In other news, Setsoto was filled with different participants enjoying entertainment from the likes of Juvenile and Sotho Kids local entertainment.
The flags of the 10 nations held high by the traditional attire together with the Basotho dances in combination thrilled the crowd just as it was during the opening on 03 December.
Juvi also geared the crowd with his street anthem popularly known as “Skipper re ntekane” meaning the “T-shirt fits me”.
It was never an end as the games mascot gave his last exposure and entertainment which seemed to be loved and accepted by attendance since day one and every event he went to.
The AUSC Region 5 games are held in a space of two years and the success in Lesotho have left legacy showing how it can be achieved despite challenges at hand.
The rainy season seemed to postpone outdoor games but this never stopped the time frame for the games ended in the set official date on Sunday.
