MASERU-The African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Chairperson Stanley Mutoya urged Lesotho to maintain the facilities brought as the benefit of hosting the Maseru 2020 Games.
“As the 2020 AUSC games hosts, the Region 5 urges you to maintain the facilities that come as the benefit of hosting the games. With the newly installed athletics track at Setsoto stadium, Lesotho can now host any international athletics event. The rehabilitation of Rapokolana facility has brought a great achievement for the country. That is a very good investment. I will not rest until there is a benefit that come out of the facilities constructed for the games,” Mutoya told the media briefing on Saturday.
Local Organising Committee Chairperson Dr Mohale Mabaleha expressed his gratitude to the Region Organising Committee (ROC) for their support. It’s through their undying support that we have managed to host these games. I was given a very difficult task to head these games during the time that Basotho are divided by politics. Some people tried by all means to stop the games from surfacing but we still managed to host as we did this for Basotho youth and the youth of the entire Region 5,” he commented.
He further expressed his modesty for the experience he gained from heading the ninth edition of AUSC Games board and thanked ROC, LOC and the Sports and Recreation Minister Likeleli Tampane for their support
